In this article, we will define multi could and discuss some of the key elements you should be aware of.
The word “multicloud” refers to multiple cloud deployments of the same type (public or private) from different vendors.
A multicloud strategy could include two public cloud environments or two private cloud environments. You can’t have both at the same time since the clouds will either be connected or not (hybrid cloud)
Value Realization of Multicloud
- Keeping Vendors from Locking You In: Having one cloud service provider lowers alternatives, adds limitations, and reduces an organization’s ability to reap the benefits of cloud technology.
- Proximity: Some workloads may be hosted by regional cloud providers closer to clients’ locations to reduce response times for cloud users dozens of miles from a company’s headquarters.
- Failover: Enterprises can benefit from multicloud setups since they help them avoid outages. Multicloud as a failover solution enables businesses to have an accessible, highly scalable backup for data, processes, and systems if—or maybe when, as some wierd Law suggests—their primary cloud goes down.
Managing Multi cloud
Multicloud management is the ability to manage multiple data centers or clouds—public or private—as if in a single environment. With a majority of enterprises using three or more clouds, it’s become the key to enterprise agility
The five foundations of multicould management
- Automation
- Visibility
- governance and compliance
- financial controls
- capacity planning
There’s nothing evil about having multiple clouds—in fact, it’s a good thing
